The soil is rock
Most of Bulverde sits on a few inches of alkaline caliche over solid limestone. Planting a tree here often means breaking rock rather than digging a hole. We plan bed depth, plant choice, and drainage around what is actually under your yard, and bring in the right soil instead of piling mulch on top of rock and hoping.
The deer will eat almost anything
Whitetail pressure is heavy here, especially in the newer communities backing onto greenbelts. We design with deer-resistant plants that still look good: Texas sage, salvia, muhly grass, mountain laurel, rosemary, lantana. If you want something the deer love, we will tell you up front what it takes to protect it.
Water is limited
Much of Bulverde runs on Trinity Aquifer wells or Texas Water Company service, and drought-stage restrictions are a regular part of life. We design landscapes that survive Stage 2 restrictions without looking like they are surviving. Native and adapted plants, drip irrigation where it makes sense, and turf only where you will actually use it.
New-build lots need real work
If you bought new construction in Johnson Ranch or Belle Oaks, you probably got builder-grade sod over scraped caliche and a couple of stressed trees. We fix that regularly: soil amendment, proper beds, irrigation correction, and planting that meets your HOA's requirements the first time.
