High End Landscaping in bulverde, TX
Singer Services has been building and maintaining landscapes in Bulverde since 2017. We're based just up Highway 281 in Spring Branch, which means Bulverde isn't the edge of our service area. It's our backyard. We were voted the best landscaper in Bulverde in both 2024 and 2025, and most of the properties we maintain in Comal County are within fifteen minutes of our shop.
If you're in Johnson Ranch, Belle Oaks, Copper Canyon, Ventana, Oak Village North, or on acreage off FM 1863 or FM 311, we've almost certainly worked on a property near yours.
Why Bulverde Landscaping Is Different
Landscaping in Bulverde is not like landscaping in San Antonio proper, and companies that treat it the same way waste your money.
The soil is rock. Most of Bulverde sits on a few inches of alkaline caliche over solid limestone. Planting a tree here often means breaking rock, not digging a hole. We plan bed depth, plant selection, and drainage around what's actually under your yard, and we bring in the right soil instead of piling mulch on top of rock and hoping.
The deer will eat almost anything. Whitetail pressure in Bulverde is heavy, especially in the newer communities backing up to greenbelts. We design with deer-resistant plants that still look good: Texas sage, salvia, muhly grass, mountain laurel, rosemary, lantana. If you want plants deer love, we'll tell you up front what it takes to protect them.
Water is limited. Much of Bulverde runs on Trinity Aquifer wells or Texas Water Company service, and drought-stage restrictions are a regular part of life here. We design landscapes that survive Stage 2 restrictions without looking like they're surviving. That means native and adapted plants, drip irrigation where it makes sense, and turf only where you'll actually use it.
New-build lots need real work. If you bought a new construction home in Johnson Ranch or Belle Oaks, you probably got builder-grade sod over scraped caliche and a couple of stressed trees. We fix that regularly: soil amendment, proper beds, irrigation correction, and plantings that meet your HOA's landscape requirements the first time.

Projects We’ve done in bulverde
The Reserve at Copper Canyon
For a recent project in The Reserve at Copper Canyon, we transformed a bare half-acre backyard around a newly built pool into a modern, zero-mow landscape. Instead of fighting the thin caliche soil with a traditional lawn, we designed the yard around two tones of gravel: white limestone river rock across the main areas and dark crushed gravel in raised planter beds around the pool. The beds are planted with prickly pear and Mexican feather grass, which handle Bulverde summers and water restrictions without complaint and keep the whole yard nearly maintenance free.
The centerpiece is a custom putting green with three cups, edged in cut limestone block with a taller fringe turf for a real green-and-collar look. We also installed a turf lounging pad beside the spa and set oversized concrete pavers with artificial turf ribbon strips leading to the pool deck, tying the whole space together. No mowing, no irrigation demands, no deer damage. Just a backyard built for Texas Hill Country weather that looks sharp year round.
Perry Homes - Johnson Ranch
We also handle commercial and builder projects in the Bulverde area, including this model home landscape for Perry Homes in Johnson Ranch. The design centers on a wide entry walkway of oversized concrete pavers set in dark gravel, flanked by matching rows of corten steel raised planters filled with geraniums and ornamental grasses. Low brick knee walls in the same blonde brick as the home tie the planters into the architecture, so the landscaping reads as part of the house rather than an afterthought.
The rest of the install includes fresh sod across the front yard, foundation beds with evergreen plantings in dark gravel, a newly planted and staked shade tree, and a finished monument sign bed with seasonal color. Model home landscaping has to look sharp on day one and stay sharp with minimal upkeep, since it's the first thing every prospective buyer sees. That's the standard we build to whether it's a builder's showcase or your own front yard.
Why Bulverde Homeowners Choose Singer Services
We're local in the way that actually matters. Our crews live and work in the Spring Branch and Bulverde area, we know which subdivisions have strict HOA landscape review and which don't, and when something needs attention we're ten minutes away, not driving up from Loop 1604.
We've also been doing this here since 2017. The plants we recommend are the ones we've watched survive Bulverde summers, February freezes, and the deer.

Frequently Asked questions
Can you plant trees in this rocky soil?
1
Yes. It usually requires augering or breaking through limestone and backfilling with the right soil mix. We'll also tell you which trees actually thrive here (live oak, Monterrey oak, cedar elm, Mexican white oak) versus ones that struggle in alkaline rock.
What plants will the deer leave alone?
2
Nothing is truly deer-proof, but Texas sage, salvias, rosemary, muhly grasses, mountain laurel, yucca, and lantana hold up well in Bulverde. We design most Bulverde landscapes around deer-resistant plants unless the yard is fenced.
Do you handle HOA landscape requirements?
3
Yes. We regularly work in Johnson Ranch, Belle Oaks, Copper Canyon, and Ventana, and we can prepare plans that pass HOA architectural review.
Will my landscape survive water restrictions?
4
That's how we design. Native and adapted plants, efficient drip irrigation, and right-sized turf areas mean your landscape stays healthy under normal drought-stage restrictions.
